The PK Building Handicap (a Class 4 race) may not be the most prestigious race we’ll see at Bath, this Sunday… and with a winning prize of just £4,690, it’s hardly the most lucrative race for trainers, owners, and jockey’s to ‘get excited’ about – but as you’ll see below, we believe there to be decent value at the meeting…
And one of our favourite picks, is Patchwork – a R Hughes trained horse, with jockey S W Kelley taking the reins. While the horse’s form is less-than-desirable (521202), this race sees the filly come in more experienced than most of her competitors, and most notably, the course is the same length as the Redcar race in which she placed first, back in April.
Priced at 4/1, there appears to be great win-value here, and the clear bookie’s favourite, we’re likely to see the price drift as we near the event – so it’s wise to get your bets on now, while the price remains this generous.
Another pick we like the look of, is Pastfact, who’s trained by M S Saunders, and ridden by L P Keniry. While her last couple of races have been disappointing (she placed 7th in her last, and 4th the time before that), she went on a three-race winning streak prior to this – and if she’s raced aggressively, we’re likely to see her make an impact coming onto the Bath track.
Priced at 7/1, there’s both good win-value, and each-way value here, and while early market signs don’t point towards significant amounts of money wagered on her, as the event nears, we may well see this change.
Our outsider bet for the race, is Fujin, who, despite falling out of form over her last three races, scored an impressive first, second, and first earlier in the year, and if Charlie Bennett can keep her under control on the softer conditions than she’s perhaps used to, we may see her acting as an early pace maker; if she’s able to keep this lead, we may well see her challenge one of the favourites for a victory…
And priced at 11/1, the value here is in an each-way bet.
It’s a hard race to pick, but with relatively long odds, it looks to be one with a fairly generous amount of value – and dependant on conditions, we may well see a surprise victory, from one of the outsiders.
