Horse Racing – 15:50 Chepstow (Wednesday 19th September)

The NFL Betting at 188Bet Selling Stakes (Class 6) is one of the lower-quality races of the day, and with just £2,300 on offer for first place, there’s not going to be much interest from the bigger trainers and jockeys…

But that’s precisely why we like the looks of the race – and with a couple of clear odds-favourites, there’s some juicy odds to be found, on some of the outer horses.

15:50 Chepstow

Winner-wise, it’s hard to look elsewhere than Outcrop, who comes from the H Morrison yard. Ridden by jockey Oisin Murphy, both have extremely high levels of experience racing… and the horse should be able to lay down a very strong claim, if she can work in conjunction with her jockey. Priced at 11/8, it’s clear the bookies are predicting a win here, with a near-evens price being the current SP.

London Gramma is another name which can’t be ignored, and ridden by Paddy Bradley, she’s more-than-capable of winning the weaker races on her own – but she may find the competition just a little too tough, to compete with. Nonetheless, an each-way bet looks appealing here, given the 16/1 SP, currently available at the majority of bookies.

Let’s Be Happy is another well-backed favourite (currently priced at 10/3), and, winner of a small Brighton Handicap race earlier in the year, he certainly has the experience to make a win of today’s race – but his last couple of races have been woefully disappointing, and jockey S W Kelly is going to need to pull out all the stops in order to get the horse keeping up with the likes of Outcrop.

Other than that, there aren’t many names that come to mind – Nitro, and Sam The Rebel are two picks for the ‘gambler’ type bettor, priced at 100/1, and 80/1 respectively, although, realistically, they’re going to struggle to make any mark on the race whatsoever…

So, all in all, it looks like it’s going to come down to a three-horse race, with Outcrop very likely to be crowned winner. Still, if London Gramma can keep up with her competition, she could stand a chance at winning – and as it stands, she should gather a place, so long as she’s ridden well.

Not the most interesting race on the day’s card, that’s for sure, but a surprise result could shed some value – so it’s worth taking a small punt on one of the names mentioned above!
