What To Expect From The Gfinity Elite Series

Gfinity, which was founded over 5 years ago in 2012, is the UK’s biggest and best eSports company that is currently operating on a global scale.

It’s based in London at what is currently the UK’s only dedicated eSports arena and hosts regular tournaments online as well as events at the arena itself. March 2017 saw the launch of the Gfinity Elite Series, which has fast become one of the most popular eSports tournaments in operation today.

The 2018 Elite Series, being labelled as Season 3, is less than two weeks away. There will be 10 teams, 3 games and 8 weeks of action which all combine together to make the ultimate competition in competitive gaming. The best of the best that the world has to offer will be going head to head in Season 3 in what is set to be the best Elite Series yet.

The Gfinity Elite Series

The 3 games that will be played in the latest Gfinity Elite series are FIFA 18, Street Fighter and Rocket League. The 10 teams involved are stronger than ever too. Those going head to head are: Fnatic, Vitality, Ares Esport, Excel, Team Envy, Method, Epsilon, Hashtag United, Nordavind and Unilad eSports. All of the sides involved are looking to make a huge impression on the world stage.

The format has changed from Season 2, with this season seeing teams split into two groups of five. The teams will face off in the group once and if you’re in group A for FIFA, you will also be in Group A for Rocket League and Street Fighter too. Group A consist of Hashtag United, Vitality, Envy, excel and Nordavind. Group B sees Unilad, Epsilon, Fnatic, Method and Ares grouped together.

For the first five weeks the tournament will involve league play only, with teams having four weeks of play and a bye week too. The new format will make the competition even more interesting as a couple of wins could see a team who were in trouble climb to the top of the group table. Group winners will receive a bye through to the semis, while runners up in one group will play the third placed team in the other group. A knockout stage then ensues, with quarter finals following.

Season 3 is set to begin on the 5th of March and the opening evening sees four hours of FIFA action taking place. The next day is reserved for Rocket League, in its most popular spot, before Sunday evening sees players going head to head on Street Fighter. As always, the Elite Series will be broadcast live while others can choose to go and watch live for free.

It’s undoubtedly going to be the best Elite Series so far, especially with the likes of Unilad involved. They currently have the best FIFA player in the world in their team and they’ll certainly be hoping to make an impact in Rocket League and Street Fighter too, in the same way they have with FIFA.
