The fixture between the Minnesota Vikings and the Seattle Seahawks is a cracking way to end week 14 of the NFL fixtures.
The Vikings will be travelling away to face the Seahawks for Monday Night Football. Both teams are currently battling it out to achieve a wild card position which means that both teams really need the victory making this game a crucial one.
Vikings Fading In NFC Wild Card Race
While Seahawks currently have a tight grip on one of the two NFC wild card spots, the Vikings are not too far behind currently just behind them. For a while it seemed almost guaranteed that the Vikings would reach the playoffs but based on their current form they are struggling. They’ve recently lost two of their last three games, with just last week losing 24-10 to the New England Patriots. Therefore, this week’s game is of utmost importance because they need to get out of their recent slump if they wish to have any hopes of securing playoff spot. The Vikings need this win over the Seahawks along with another three wins to secure a playoff spot.
Minnesota’s Defence vs Seattle’s Run Game
The Viking have an incredible defence record because of their rushing defence tactics, in doing so they’ve been able to hold their opponents to just under 100 yards per game. Although it’s going to be a lot harder for the Vikings to keep up that record against the Seahawks because they have one of the best rushing attacks in the league with the team covering 148 yards on the ground per game.
The Impact Of Key Players
Adam Thielen of the Vikings is someone who can change any game in an instance with his current form, he has so far had one unbelievable season. He has made 98 catches, 1 166 yards and 9 touchdowns. He is currently ranked in the top five in receptions which clearly shows that he is going to be quite a handful for the Seahawks to contain. Thielen did come off his worst game of the season last week against the Patriots having been restricted to a season low of 28 receiving yards. Kirk Cousins Is another key player for the Vikings, he has completed 350 of 491 passes for 3 490 yards and made 23 touchdowns. He also has a 103 rushing yards and has scored once. Latavius Murray leads the Vikings team with 111 carries and has managed 466 yards along which include five touchdowns.
For the Seahawks a huge player for them has got to be Russell Wilson who has completed 217 of 326 passes for 2716 yards. He currently has 29 touchdowns and has made 5 interceptions. The likes of Chris Carson and Tyler Lockett will also prove to be instrumental. Carson has 157 carries and has managed to gain 704 yards along with 4 touchdowns. Lockett has 44 receptions and 713 yards which has amounted to 9 touchdowns. These stats certainly making all these players quite dangerous to their opposition.
The Seattle Seahawks are 4-1 against the Vikings at home and would like to extend that run but this record means nothing come game day. The intensity and desire about who wants it more is what should be the deciding factor between these teams. Both wish to make the playoffs so both teams will be playing their hearts out which makes it a difficult one to predict.
